New Delhi: Amid the ongoing tiff between Congress and RJD over the allocations of Lok Sabha seats in Bihar, senior Congress leaders from the state met party president Rahul Gandhi at his residence, here on Thursday.
Rebel BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha, who was set to join the Congress today, will likely formalise his switch later due to the ongoing disagreement.
According to sources, if the two parties are not able to reach an agreement over seats, the 'mahagathbandhan' is likely to collapse.
Reacting to the same, Congress MLA from the state, Madan Mohan Tiwari agreed that tensions between the parties existed, but was confident that Bihar Congress incharge Shatkisinh Gohil and state party president Madan Mohan Jha would positively work towards an agreement with the RJD.
Though he batted for the 'mahagathbandhan', he said the Congress was strong enough to go alone if the need arises.
Party workers waiting outside Gandhi's residence, on the other hand, had a different view, as they strongly advocated for the Congress to goalone on all the seats.
According to reports, the two parties are at loggerheads over the Darbhanga, Aurangabad, and Supaul seats among others.
