An 8-year-old dies after falling into bore-well in Bihar

A minor girl died after she fell in a bore-well while playing near it in Bihar's Khagaria district on Wednesday morning. The bore-well was being dug up under a state government scheme to provide tap water to every household in the region.

Khagaria (Bihar): An eight-year-old girl, who fell into a borewell in a village near here died of her injuries, official sources said on Wednesday.

The borewell was dug up under a state government scheme- 'Jal Nal Yojna' to ensure tap water to every household in the area.

Villagers gathered at deceased's house

According to the deceased family members, Jigyasa Kumari was playing in the area where the construction of the borewell was underway. She fell into the borewell and the villagers informed the local authorities about the incident. She was taken to a local hospital, where the doctor declared her brought dead.

Briefing about the incident, District Magistrate (DM) Alok Ranjan said, "The contractor assigned for the installation work of the borewell has been absconding since the incident took place."
