Patna: In a major crackdown on travel agents issuing e-tatkal tickets to local passengers for a big price by using forged identities on IRCTC web portal, the Bihar railways police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested as many as 80 touts in a year.
In a press briefing in Patna, Director General of RPF, Arun Kumar said, "The syndicate was being operated through special software from Bangalore and Mumbai. This was the reason that till now the tatkal tickets were far-fetched for the common people. The Railways is committed to curb black marketing of Tatkal tickets and is taking many steps."
"A total of 80 people, who were involved in the crime were arrested so far. At least 10 crore tickets have been recovered from them. A total of 7000 CCTV cameras are being installed to increase the safety of railways, besides cyber patrolling is also being arranged," he added.
