Guwahati: In the time of COVID-19, sanitiser is a basic necessity for everyone. People are sanitising everything before using it. But sometimes people find it difficult to sanitise their mobile phones, wallets, keys, cash etc.
Solving this problem, three youth from Assam have developed a box, which can sanitise these items without getting them soaked in sanitiser.
Bailung Chetia, Deidwip Chetia and Upal Jyoti Baruah have developed a portable Ultra Violet Light Sanitiser box.
"This box while using UV light and Nanometric of 264 range can sanitise any non-human thing. It can sterilise any non-human thing including vegetables, wallet, mobile phones etc," said Bailung while talking to ETV Bharat.
Bailung said that some foodstuff like vegetables cannot be sanitised using alcohol-based sanitisers. "It will help in this regard."
The development took place after Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for "vocal for local" mission.
"It takes between 10 to 15 minutes to sterilise any non-living material from all kinds of virus and bacterias," he said adding that they have used zinc plates to make the box to ensure that the UVC ray can't come out once the box is locked."
The concept that UV ray can destroy Coronavirus was there from before. However, what we have tried here to put the theory in practice for the benefit of the common people," said Deidwip Chetia.
The trio now planning to launch the box in the market and said that it can be very helpful for households as well as for hospitals.
