Tezpur (Assam): Barely one month after its opening, Assam's famous Kaziranga national park has received over 13000 footfalls.
Park officials said that a total of 13,568 tourists visited the park from October 21, when the park was opened for tourists this year till November 21. While most of them were domestic tourists, it also included 27 foreign tourists, the officials said.
Park director P Shivkumar said that a total of 1600 tourists visited the park on Sunday (November 22), which is amazing. "We hope that the number of tourists will increase gradually," he said.
The tourists season in Assam normally starts from October and continues till April end. The park is closed from May 1 ever year due to monsoon and ensuing floods. However, this year the park had to be closed from mid-March owing to covid lockdown.
The park authorities opened the park on October 21 with proper COVID protocols in place for all tourists.
The Kaziranga national park authorities also included three new places in the Kaziranga tourist circuit which includes river rafting at Jia Bharali river and jungle trekking at Chirang district at Indo-Bhutan border.
