Dispur: Attacking West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Assam health minister and convener of the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that about 400 BJP workers and their families have crossed over to Assam from neighbouring West Bengal in the face of attacks and violence by the Trinamool Congress (TMC) particularly after the party's victory in the neighbouring state.

Sarma said this in a tweet on Tuesday and added that the Assam government has provided shelter to 300 to 400 BJP karyakartas who had crossed over to Assam from West Bengal.

He also shared some photographs of the BJP workers from West Bengal who had crossed over to Assam and taken shelter in Assam's Dhubri district.

"In a sad development, 300-400 @BJP4Bengal karyakartas and family members have crossed over to Dhubri in Assam after confronted with brazen persecution & violence. We’re giving shelter & food. @MamataOfficial Didi must stop this ugly dance of demonocracy! Bengal deserves better.," tweeted Sarma on Tuesday.

Sarma also compared the situation with Assam and said that although 24 hours have passed since BJP's victory in Assam not even single Congress workers are even taunted.

"Over 24 hours that @BJP4India won elections in Assam. Not a single Congress worker taunted, forget about being attacked. Not too far in Bengal, Didi's Dadas have unleashed a reign of terror, assaulting & murdering BJP workers. Can the 'LIBERALS' spot the difference?" Sarma tweeted.
