Guwahati: The flood situation in Assam worsened on Wednesday with the death toll rising to 28 and affecting nearly 57,51,938 people across 29 districts.
According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) report, the Brahmaputra river and its tributaries are flowing above the danger level.
Presently, 427 relief camps are operating in the state. The Centre has also sanctioned Rs. 251 crores for the flood-hit state.
Several trains have been cancelled and others rescheduled due to the ongoing incessant rainfall and landslide.
NDRF and SDRF teams have been pressed into service for search and rescue operation.
