Guwahati: A special court has questioned the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) authorities why the suspended Superintendent of Police Kumar Sanjit Krishna is still being kept at a paying cabin. The court has also asked the hospital authorities to submit a report on the health condition of Krishna at the next hearing of the case. The court has also questioned the hospital authority whether they obtained the necessary permission from the CID before admitting Krishna in the paying cabin.
It may be mentioned here that Krishna was arrested by the CID of the Assam police for his involvement in the multi-crore SI recruitment scam of the Assam police. The CID sleuths have also recovered a huge sum of money and question papers from the residence of the accused.
It was alleged that Krishna, through his sources leaked the question paper of the Assam police's SI examination for a huge sum of money.

The court, during the hearing recently, observed that the GMCH authorities have not taken permission from the investigating agency CID before shifting Krishna to the paying cabin. The GMCH authorities, however, informed the court that the suspended officer was shifted to a paying cabin as per the recommendation of the medical board and informed the Bhangagarh police station before shifting him to the paying cabin.
The court also criticized the GMCH for charging fees from Krishna for his stay in paying cabin. The court said that an accused cannot and should not pay for the fees of paying cabin when he was in custody. The court said that the jail authorities will decide if they can pay the charges of the paying cabin for Krishna and if not then he has to be shifted to a general ward of the hospital.
