New Delhi: Congress on Friday has decided to go alone in Assam in the forthcoming general election.
Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Ripun Bora said, "We will contest the forthcoming elections alone. As of now, we have not taken any such decision to make an alliance with other parties. We will get success even if we contest alone."
Speaking to ETV Bharat he said, "The party is confident that it can win in these two states, even if it goes alone."
Bora, however, added that options of any alliance can be looked upon at a later stage.
Congress sources said that party president Rahul Gandhi has given a go ahead to the state leadership over any alliance.
"Congress president Rahul Gandhi has already conveyed the message to the state leadership, " said a senior party leader privy to the developments in Assam.
Earlier, Congress has decided to contest Lok Sabha election in Uttar Pradesh on its own.
