New Delhi: It was the Modi wave that helped Kripanath Mallah, the MP candidate from Assam's Karimganj to win the 2019 Lok Sabha elections against a strong opponent from All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF). Mallah has now appealed to Prime Minister Modi to help him bring smiles to the faces of people in Assam's Barak Valley.
Talking to ETV Bharat, Mallah said, "We have only one paper mill in Barak Valley which has remained shut since the UPA regime. Now, I would request Prime Minister Modi to take steps towards reopening the mill."
Thousands of families have been affected after the paper mill at Panchgram in Karimganj was shut down a few years ago. The employees of the mill did not receive their salaries for a very long time.
Mallah, now a BJP MP, defeated his rival candidate from AIUDF.
"I will also work for the development of the highways in Karimganj," said Mallah.
Mallah further added that he would advocate Modi's campaign 'Saabka Saath Saabka Vikas', and reach out to the people, especially the minorities.
"Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, I will reach out to the people from the minority community and ensure their inclusion in the development process," said Mallah.
