Assam: Another woman commits suicide after exclusion from NRC list

Another woman committed suicide, as her name along with her family's name, was not included in the NRC list in Kaliabor Circle of Nagaon district, Assam. According to sources, they failed to submit the required documents on time.

Nagaon: A woman committed suicide on Tuesday afternoon after she found her name missing in the NRC Final list in Kaliabor Circle of Nagaon district, Assam.

Rahima Begum, a resident of Kaliabor's Borghuli village was residing with her husband and five children, fell into depression when her family couldn't complete the NRC formalities.

According to sources, they could not submit their documents on time which apparently resulted in the exclusion of their names.

Ever since its publication, the NRC continues to trouble the people of Assam who have been excluded from the list.

A few days back, a 50-year-old woman from Sontipur district of Assam allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a well after exclusion of her name in National Register of Citizens (NRC) final list.

The controversial NRC was released on August 31 leaving out over 19 lakh applicants.
