Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh): In yet another case of political violence in Andhra Pradesh, members from the ruling YSRCP reportedly attacked TDP MLA Ramakrishna Babu and other TDP activists in Visakhapatnam district on Monday.

It was then that some YSRCP activists, who were also present at the spot reportedly blocked the legislator's team and hurled stones at them, injuring a few TDP leaders.

Following the attack, the legislator staged a protest, demanding strict action against the culprits.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, Ramakrishna Babu said that the attackers had nothing to do with the particular ward or Arilova.

"They were not leaders, but YSRCP rowdies who assaulted us. They misbehaved with the women as well. The local ward secretary got hit in the head and requires stitches. Others got injured as well," he said.

The MLA added that he found it shocking that the attack took place right in front of the police, alleging that the cops did nothing to save them.

Condemning the attack, TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu lashed out at the ruling YSRCP, blaming them of violating the rights of elected legislators.

He called for strict action against the culprits and demanded that the best medical care be given to the injured TDP cadres.
