Vijayawada: A young woman was burnt alive by a man for refused friendship with him. Nagbhushanam poured petrol on the girl and set her on fire in Vijaywada on Monday. She was seriously injured and admitted to Vijayawada Government Hospital before she died.
Police have registered a case and an investigation is on.
Four days earlier, the woman had lodged a complaint against the man at Peta police station.
Police had warned him and he submitted a letter stating that he will not disturb her. Following which, the women withdrew the complaint. Nagbhushanam, a resident of Srirampuram village in Reddigudem zone, has been harassing the woman for a while.
She was attacked while returning home from work and her complaint is thought to be the motive behind the attack. The woman from Visannapet, Krishna district, was working as a nurse in a Covid Care Center in Vijayawada. She lived in a rented room near the hospital with her friends.
