Vizianagaram (Andhra Pradesh): Several tribals have died in the past few days due to an unknown disease in Andhra Pradesh's Vizianagaram district.
According to reports, several incidents of such deaths due to an unknown disease have come to light in recent days from the Chillamamidi Goode village in the district's Pachipenta Mandal.
On Wednesday, Salur MLA P Rajanna Dora informed the district medical and health officer about the recent deaths.
According to reports, at least eight persons have died in the past few days. The deceased have been identified as Mukhi Venkati, Mukhi Paddammi, Simboina Simhachalam, Mukhi Ammanna, Mukhi Kotayya, Mukhi Gangamma, Mukhi Appalaswamy and Simboina Chinnayya.
Based on the symptoms exhibited by the infected people, S Ravishankar, a doctor at Gurivinayudupeta Primary Health Centre (PHC) said that the consumption of alcohol was causing swelling in the body parts and legs.
However, he said that it is still not confirmed what the disease exactly is.
