Visakhapatnam: Newly elected Visakhapatnam (East) MLA Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu of the Telugu Desam Party was on Wednesday arrested by the police for making inappropriate comments against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Police had registered a case on May 27 against the TDP MLA, following a complaint made by YSRCP, which alleged that Ramakrishna violated the Model Code of Conduct.
According to reports, the TDP MLA had made offensive comments against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and AP Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy during his victory rally after the election results came out on May 23.
The MLA, who was booked under Sections 294 B and 188 of the Indian Penal Code, was later released after being granted bail.
