Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh): In a shocking revelation, ornaments are reportedly missing from the treasury of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD), which administers the famous hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala among others.
According to reports, two gold rings and a five-kilogram silver crown belonging to the deity are missing from the TTD treasury.
TTD has reportedly taken action against Assistant Executive Officer Srinivas for the lapse and has decided to cover for the cost of the missing ornaments through cuts in the official's monthly salary.
In a similar incident earlier in February this year, three golden crowns, collectively weighing about 1.3 kg, were reported missing from Sri Govindaraja Swamy temple at Tirupati.
The crowns adorned the statues of deities Lord Venkateswara, Sri Lakshmi and Sri Padmavathi at an ancient shrine inside the temple complex.
