Sandalwood smugglers burnt alive in road accident in Kadapa

Four red sandalwood smugglers were burnt alive as the car they were travelling in burst into flames after colliding with a tipper in Andhra Pradesh's Kadapa district.

Kadapa (Andhra Pradesh): In a horrific road accident, four people were burnt alive, and three others injured after two cars collided with a tipper in Andhra Pradesh's Kadapa in the early hours of Monday.

According to reports, the accident took place between 3 and 4 am near Kadapa airport.

Red sandalwood was found in the car

A fire reportedly broke out after an SUV rammed into the diesel tank of the tipper at Gotur. The four passengers in the SUV were burnt beyond recognition.

Meanwhile, another sedan was also reportedly involved in the accident. Three passengers of the sedan received injuries and were rushed to the RIMS hospital in Kadapa.

Firefighters and the police rushed to the spot and extinguished the flames, which had consumed both the cars and the tipper.

According to reports, one of the cars (SUV) was carrying red sandalwood and the four deceased were involved in illegal smuggling. The smugglers were on their way to Tadipatri from Kadapa.

Meanwhile, police said that further investigation into the matter is underway.
