Tirupattur: Anandan, a 28-year-old IT professional, committed suicide after allegedly getting reprimanded by his parents and brother over his 'addiction' to online rummy game. As per sources, Anand has been playing rummy on his mobile phone and lost lakhs of rupees. He came to his village on October 9 to cast vote for Tamil Nadu local body polls.
After receiving information, police officials rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Tirupattur Government Hospital for postmortem. A case was registered and probe is underway.
The engineering graduate, Anandan hailed from Purushottama Kuppam area, near Vaniyambadi, Tirupattur district. He was working in an IT company in Chennai.
