Gudivada: With the onion prices skyrocketing across the country, a man in Andhra Pradesh's Krishna district died of a heart attack on Monday morning while standing in a queue for purchasing onion at a subsidised rate.
The incident took place in Gudivada in Krishna district.
According to reports, the man died while he was undergoing treatment at a government hospital.
Locals said he was waiting in the queue for a very long time.
The state's agriculture marketing department had decided to procure the onions on a large scale and sell it at a retail price.
The sale at subsidised rates is in progress right from the month of October.
Officials have also confirmed that the sale of onions at low rates in local markets will continue.
