AP: Girl rescued from 12-feet deep trench dies

One child lost her life while undergoing treatment after being rescued from a 12-feet deep trench in Andhra Pradesh's Nellore on Monday due to heavy injuries. Three-year-old Mokshita and four-year-old Gopi Raju, who were cousins, had accidentally fallen inside an uncovered trench which was dug for laying a pipeline.

Nellore: One out of the two children who were rescued from a trench in Andhra Pradesh's Nellore on Monday, succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at a government hospital at Ramateertham.

Three-year-old Mokshita and four-year-old Gopi Raju, who were cousins have accidentally slipped into a 12-feet deep trench which was dug up for laying a pipeline to provide water to a nearby school.

Locals immediately contacted the officials and a rescue operation was initiated.

A tunnel was dug parallel to the trench using a JCB machine and after fours hours, the children were rescued.

The duo was rushed to a government hospital where Mokshita succumbed to her injuries.

Mokshita hailed from Chirala town in Prakasam district. She along with her parents had come to Utukuru Pedapalem village to visit relatives.
