Ananthapur (Andhra Pradesh): A district official acting as COVID19 nodal officer died after testing positive while his family members were frantically trying to get him admitted into a hospital. Micro Irrigation Project Director B S Subbarayudu was a local officer for COVID19 management and was suffering urinary problems for three days.
He was taken to different hospitals in the Ananthapur district but he could not be admitted due to COVID-19 while the hospitals treated for blood pressure and diabetes as outpatients.
When the family took the sick officer for a CT scanning on Friday, it was revealed that he was infected with COVID-19. Subbarayudu started suffering complications in breathing and his pulse rate also dropped.

The trouble began while the family started looking for hospitals as his situation turned worse. According to family members, he told hospital authorities, 'I am district officer, please allocate a bed' but to no avail.
He was first taken to a private hospital first where there was no ventilator but he was later rushed to a super specialty hospital as his condition turned critical. The doctors at the hospital said that he was brought dead.
The family members complained that there was not even a hospital staff at super specialty hospital to provide them a stretcher.
The deceased officer hailed from Kurnool and was survived by wife, two daughters and a son.
