West Godavari: Around 400 street dogs were brutally killed and then buried in Chintalapudi area of the district.
The incident came to light after a charity volunteer lodged a complaint against the panchayat staff alleging that they had given cyanide injections to the street dogs and killed them.
Animal husbandry officers have collected the body parts of the dogs that were buried in the Chinthalapudi dumping yard for investigation.
"We have received information from the activists that around 400 dogs were killed in Chintalapudi. However, when we visited the spot, we could only find five dogs at the dumping yard. We will take necessary action after we receive the report," said a police official.
