Andhra shocker: Man abandons ailing father at hospital; dumps body on roadside after his death in Kadapa

The man from Singanapalle dumped the body of his father who died at the hospital of TB after the accused abandoned him after admitting there.

Kadapa: In a shocking incident, a youth dumped the body of his father, who died of Tuberculosis in February this year after being abandoned by the accused, in a desolate area in Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh. The incident came to light a few days ago after the locals brought the matter into the notice of the police after noticing foul smell from the body.

Police have arrested the accused while further investigation into the matter is going on. Divulging further details into the case, Kadapa DSP MD Sharif said that the accused Rajasekhar Reddy working as a private school bus cleaner has been arrested by the police. DSP Sharif said Rajasekhar's father Bommu Chinnapulla Reddy (62) of Singanapalle had been suffering from tuberculosis for several years.

In Feb. this year, Rajasekhar Reddy admitted his father, who was in poor health, to the Government Hospital near Kadapa and returned home while abandoning Chinnapulla at the hospital, police said. He did not respond even after the hospital staff called him several times to attend his ailing father, it added.

According to Kadapa Police, Rajasekhar Reddy finally went to the hospital on the Feb. 23 after the hospital staff told him that the condition of his father was critical. When the medical staff discharged Chinnapullareddy, he died near the hospital. His son, Rajasekhar Reddy wrapped the the body in a hospital blanket and hired an auto and took the body away.

However, instead of taking the body home and perform the last rituals, accused Rajasekhar Reddy dumped the body in a desolate place along the Guvwala Cheruvu Ghat road, police said. Reddy dumped the body in the bushes, and went home, added police. On the 29th of last month, locals approached the police about a foul smell emanating from the area.

A team of police was accordingly rushed to the spot which found the body in a decomposed state. Police zeroed in on the accused during subsequent investigation on the basis of the logo of the hospital on the blanket wrapped around the body at the scene of the incident. The accused who was arrested by the police has told the police that he dumped the body because he had no money for the funeral.

The DSP Kadapa said that a case has been registered against the accused who has been taken into custody. Further investigation into the case is going on, he said.
