Andhra Pradesh police seize huge stock of foreign-made cigarettes

The Andhra Pradesh police have made a massive seizure of foreign-made cigarettes worth Rs 3.5 crore, which was illegally brought from Haryana to supply across the state. The police have filed a case against a man and investigating the matter.

Vijayawada: In an operation carried out by the Andhra Pradesh police, foreign-made cigarettes were seized worth Rs 3.5 crore on Friday in Vijayawada.

According to the police, a gang had brought cigarettes from Delhi to supply across Andhra Pradesh.

A case has been filed against a man from Haryana who is on the run, added the police.

It is pertinent to mention here that the foreign-made cigarettes are contraband items and it is prohibited as there are no pictorial health warning as required under the provisions of the cigarettes and other tobacco products Amendments Rules 2017.
