Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh police arrested a person and seized 400 litres of fake hand sanitiser from a godown in Vijayawada on Tuesday.
Acting on a tip-off about the manufacture and sale of spurious sanitiser in the city, sleuths of the city police conducted a raid and seized 400 litres of such sanitiser that were ready for transportation to different places across the city. Several plastic containers with fake sanitiser stored in them were recovered.
The police said that the arrested person has been identified as Deepram who is being interrogated further.
Police have also registered a case against him under the Indian penal Code (IPC) sections 270 (Malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 420 (Cheating) and 120B(criminal conspiracy) and an investigation is underway to nab more people who may be associated with the illegal business.
