Hyderabad: YCP Narsapur MP Raghurama Krishna Raju has been arrested by Andhra Pradesh CID officials from his residence in Hyderabad amid a huge ruckus on Friday.
He has been taken to Vijayawada for further investigation.

Raju has been charged with defaming Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and the state government. He has been booked under sections IPC 124A (Criminal Conspiracy against state government), 153B, 505 and 120B. The CID officials served him the notices before arresting him. The CRPF security of Raju provided by the Centre had tried to protect the MP during the arrest.

However, CID officials got due clearances from the top CRPF officials following which the CRPF security made way for the CID team to perform its duty. The CID team has also informed the local police about the arrest.
The case was registered on the allegations that Raju acted in a way that is detrimental to the prestige of the state government. The MP has recently made many allegations including that of corruption against the state government.
The MP was brought to the Crime Investigation Department (CID) office in Guntur district late on Friday evening. He was reportedly questioned by Additional Director General PV Sunil Kumar. He has been given medical aid and is likely to be taken to the Government General Hospital, Guntur on Saturday morning for medical tests. Raju's advocate has filed a house motion petition in the Andhra Pradesh High Court seeking bail. The petition will be heard this noon.
