Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh): An all-party demonstration was held in Andhra Pradesh's Visakhapatnam on Wednesday against the Centre's plan to privatise the Vizag steel plant (VSP).
The 'Visakha Ukku Akilapakshala Samavesam' (All party demonstration) was held in the port city today, where several lawmakers and leaders from trade unions were present.
While trade unions made it clear that they are ready to sacrifice their lives to save the steel plant, leaders from the Ruling YSRCP announced that they were ready to resign from their posts to protect the rights of people from Andhra Pradesh.
YSRCP MP Vijayasai Reddy claimed that the steel plant, which was in profits, had been dumped into losses through a conspiracy.

Meanwhile, the trade unions said it was disappointing that Reddy has not announced his resignation yet in protest against the proposed privatisation. They said that the sitting MLAs and MPs from the state needed to put pressure on the Centre through resignations.
Meanwhile, the locals demanded that the YSRCP government in the state pass a resolution in the state Assembly against the proposed privatisation.
Earlier on January 27 this year, the Union Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs had given in-principle approval for the privatisation of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) or Vizag Steel Plant.
