Kakinada(Andhra Pradesh): A fatal road accident which took place at the Sitaramapuram Subbarayunidibba bypass of Tallarevu mandal of Kakinada district killed six women and injured four others on Sunday.
According to sources, the accident took place when a private bus collided with an auto while the auto driver was returning after dropping passengers to desired locations. The severity of the accident was so much that all six women died on the spot and four others were critically injured. Visuals from the spot showed parts of both vehicles strewn on the road as passersby kept stopping to see the remnants of the tragedy that had transpired on the road.

An eyewitness, who described the accident, said police rushed to the spot soon after receiving the information evacuated mangled bodies of women in one of the trucks and arranged for quick transportation of injured persons in an ambulance for treatment at a hospital. Police removed the bodies and sent them for postmortem. The victims hailed from Neelapalli in Yanam and were all employees of a shrimp unit. Police registered a case and took up an investigation. An official said they were trying to find out how the accident occurred. The accident sent shockwaves across the district.
The accident happened two days after another road mishap in the Anakapalli district of the state. Two youths died on Friday after the two-wheeler they were riding was allegedly hit by a private bus in the Veduruwada area of the district.
