Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh): In a tragic tale, a five-year-old, who lost his vision due to the gas leak in Visakhapatnam, could not catch a final glimpse of his father, who unfortunately also died in the same incident.
Five-year-old Manideep, who was injured in the incident, is currently undergoing treatment at the King George Hospital in the city. The boy is unable to open his eyes, and as a result, has lost his vision.
Tragically, Manideep's father, S Govindaraju (40) also died in the same incident. He used to work at LG Polymers, from where the gas leak was reported.
However, Govindaraju's family members were not aware of his death until the next day of the incident, when they saw the report in a newspaper. The heartbroken family rushed to the hospital to find his corpse.
Manideep, who is undergoing treatment at the same hospital, could not even catch a final glimpse of his deceased father due to his injury.
Meanwhile, hospital superintendent Dr Arjun said that ophthalmologists would specifically attend to Manideep to get his vision back.
Earlier on May 7, a styrene gas leak from LG Polymers in R R Venkatapuram area of Gopalapatnam in Visakhapatnam killed at least 12 people, and impacted over 1000 others who inhaled the toxic substance.
