Tokyo: Two time Asian Champion Ravi Dahiya defeated Bulgaria's Georgi Valentinov in Men's Freestyle 57kg on Wednesday in the quarterfinal match here at the Tokyo Olympics.
Dahiya defeated his Bulgarian counterpart 14-4. With this win, he entered semifinals and is one victory away from assuring a medal for India.
The 2016 European Championships bronze medallist, Valentinov, who was in spectacular form, couldn't match up to the standards of Dahiya.
Earlier in the day, Dahiya defeated Columbia's Eduardo Tigreros in his round of 16 bout in 57kg category event.
Seeded fourth in the 57kg division, the freestyle wrestler, was placed in an easy draw yesterday.
He was dominant right from the onset taking his Columbian counterpart right on the mat in the first period.
But Eduardo, making good use of his feet, made a good comeback against Dahiya. The second period saw Dahiya showing complete dominance as he got into the groove, registering an easy increment of 13-2.
Dahiya will play in the semi-final match later in the day.
