Khelo India University Games: Dutee Chand wins gold, fails to qualify for Olympics

Bhubaneswar: Ace Indian sprinter Dutee Chand on Saturday clinched the gold medal in the 100m event at the ongoing Khelo India University games.

Dutee, who was running in the third lane, completed her race in 11.49s to bag the gold medal. The current national record in 100m race stands at 11.22s. The record was set by Dutee at the National Open in October last year.

However, it is also noteworthy that the 24-year-old sprinter is currently 0.7s short of making the Olympic qualification mark, which has been set at 11.15s.
