Ulan-Ude (Russia): Indian boxer Jamuna Boro reached the semifinals of the 54kg category in the AIBA Women's World Championships after defeating Ursula Gottlob of Germany on Thursday.
Boro's win handed India the third medal in the competition after Mary Kom and Manju Rani previously assured India of two medals by qualifying for the semifinals.
Jamuna registered a 4:1 verdict in her favour after a fierce and aggressive quarterfinal battle.
Jamuna had earlier defeated Michidmaa Erdenedalai of Mongolia and Algeria's Sfouh Ouidad in the previous rounds.
Boro is now set to face Huang Hsiao-Wen on Saturday, October 12.
