Spain: La Liga club Barcelona’s goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen arrived at training wearing a face mask on Wednesday, and while he was put through his paces by the club's coaching staff, his car was disinfected by a worker in full bio-hazard gear.
Meanwhile, Barcelona stars - including Lionel Messi, Gerard Pique, Antoine Griezmann, Sergio Busquets and Luis Suarez - were put through their paces in training on Wednesday ahead of the Spanish League’s expected resumption in June.
Earlier, the Spanish government granted permission to La Liga clubs to resume training.
After that, Barcelona announced that its first-team players will undergo coronavirus tests before returning to training.
La Liga was initially suspended on a temporary basis on March 12th due to the coronavirus outbreak - which was extended indefinitely since March 23rd.
However, on May 4, La Liga announced that after the Spanish Ministry of Health's approval for the return of sports training sessions, players "will start training alone following medical tests carried out by club staff."
Also, La Liga President Javier Tebas said he would like to see the season to resume from June 12 and he also gave an insight into the changes in the calendar once football returns to stadiums in Spain.
With all necessary norms being put into place, La Liga is set to return next month and Tebas said matches will be played daily for over a month in order to complete the season.
"I don't know when football will return," Tebas was quoted as saying by a media outlet.
"I don't know if the most probable date is June 19, I would like it to be June 12. It will depend on spikes and contagions.
"There would be league games daily for 35 days," he added.
He also revealed that players will be tested for the virus prior to every game and all necessary protocols will be followed with respect to the safety of the footballers.
"24 hours before the game the players will be tested," Tebas said.
"The lowest risk will be during games, I ask that health regulations are followed to get to the start with as few infected as possible.
"We're very on top of the control of players, at home I ask that they keep following the protocol," the La Liga President added.
