"Now we need another protocol, we need clear guidelines of what to do and what not to do and the timeline, of course, because we cannot be waiting there until the last two hours whether we are playing a football match or not, we should know a little bit earlier and at least have, you know, an open communication with the three parties, the two teams involved in the game and the Premier League and make a decision what is right to do in that moment, but with a little bit of time, ideally," Arteta said when asked about new COVID-19 protocols.

It was the third Premier League game to be wiped out following a national rise in infection levels - with Monday's clash between Everton and Manchester City having followed the postponement of Newcastle against Aston Villa at the start of December.

Now they are set to face West Brom, which have not won in their last five consecutive matches with three defeats and two draws.

Last season, Arsenal and West Brom drew 1-1 when they played at The Hawthorns.
