Vigo: 2016-17 La Liga champions Real Madrid thrashed Celta Vigo 3-1 in their opening La Liga game of the 2019-20 season.

Former Real Madrid Galactico signing Gareth Bale was reintroduced to Madrid's starting line-up after Zidane confirmed the club are set to give Bale another chance to impress the Madrid faithful as Eden Hazard was ruled out for one month due to injury.

Bale, however, did not disappoint as he set up Karim Benzema for the opening goal on 12 minutes - with the french striker tapping home Bale's low cross.

The first half ended at 1-0 in favour of Madrid, however, Luka Modric was sent off after being handed a straight red by referee Javier Fernandez following a late challenge on Denis Suarez.

This, however, only spurred Real Madrid on and Toni Kroos made it 2-0 just after the hour mark with a fine 25-yard finish with substitute Lucas Vazquez making it 3-0 in favour of Madrid with 10 minutes left.

Celta did manage to grab a late consolation, with fellow substitute Iker Losada lashing an angled effort past Courtois in added time.
