Rome: Arkadiusz Milik converted the decisive spot kick in a penalty shootout as Napoli won their sixth Coppa Italia following a 0-0 draw behind closed doors with Juventus in Rome on Wednesday.

The summit clash, played in an empty Stadio Olimpico, was decided on penalty kicks after a hard-fought but scoreless match.

The game went straight to penalties without extra time being played - a precautionary measure for players still getting back into shape in only their second match of the restart.

Cristiano Ronaldo was likely Juventus’ last penalty taker but after Paulo Dybala had his shot saved and Danilo blasted high over the goal, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner could only stand at midfield and watch as Napoli won the shootout 4-2.

The Napoli scorers were Lorenzo Insigne, Matteo Politano, Nikola Maksimovic and Milik. Leonardo Bonucci and Aaron Ramsey scored for Juventus.

"We deserved this Cup," Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret told RAI public broadcaster. "We are thrilled; we gave everything from the first minute to the last."

This was the 12th time the two sides met in a Coppa Italia final. The last time was in May 2012, when Napoli won the trophy with a 2-0 win. The previous 11 matches ended in five Juventus victories, four Napoli wins, and two draws.

The match was televised live across the five continents in over 200 countries, including China.

Meanwhile, Serie A is all set to resume on Saturday.
