Buenos Aires: Leopoldo Luque, doctor for Diego Maradona, on Thursday evening said that the Argentine soccer great experienced "confusion episodes" due to "withdrawal," and he will remain for observation for several more days.

Luque avoided to clarify on the word "withdrawal," but vaguely referred to Maradona's personality.

"Diego is doing fine during the post-surgery observation. We've been even dancing with Diego. There is also something else that is a reality. We all know about Diego... After the surgery, he has experienced some episodes of confusion, and we are associating this, along with the therapy doctors, to withdrawal symptoms. The idea is to stay in line with the therapy doctors' suggestion and give him treatment for his withdrawal. We think that this is going to last for some days. We spoke and we all agree that this is the best for Diego. We have no doubt that this is the best for him. And he agrees. (Reporter: Will he stay?) He stays today and several more days."

Maradona underwent surgery on Tuesday to remove a subdural hematoma, which is an accumulation of blood between a membrane and his brain.

While walking back to the hospital, Luque said that Maradona agreed to stay in hospital for more days, despite his earlier wishes to be discharged soon.
