Japan: Fernando Torres told media on Wednesday that he hopes to score in the final game of his professional career when Sagan Tosu host Vissel Kobe in Japan's J.League on Friday.

The 35-year-old Spaniard announced in June that he would be hanging up his boots for the last time and chose to make the fixture against Vissel Kobe - who include his former international team-mates Andres Iniesta and David Villa in their ranks - his swan song.

Torres talks ahead of final appearance of professional career

"It's been an amazing 18 years, more than 18 years playing football. I won many things. I won the respect of world football, which is the most important thing for me," Torres said.

"Now I have only one game left. So, I will make sure that I will enjoy from the first until the last minute and hopefully we can get the three points, which are very important for us, and hopefully I can score my last goal at home in front of Sagan Tosu fans. It's going to be a really special game for me, but it's not going to change the way I feel about my career. It's been fantastic. Much better than I could expect when I was a kid," he added.

'El Nino' won the World Cup in 2010 and the European Championships in 2008 and 2012, and scored a combined 262 clubs goals for Atletico Madrid, Liverpool, Chelsea, AC Milan and Sagan Tosu in his 18-year career.

Torres joined the Sagan Tosu in July 2018, scoring three league goals in his debut season before adding two more to that tally in the current campaign.
