Monte Carlo: Portugal's star striker Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed that it is his dream to win the World Cup for his country. He was recently discussing Portugal's chances of winning the FIFA World Cup for the first time at the 2022 finals in Qatar.

Ronaldo skippered Portuguese to their first major international title at Euro 2016 in France and the 'Selecao' followed that success by winning the inaugural edition of the UEFA Nations League in 2019.

Discussing Portugal's chances of clinching a maiden World Cup title in 2022, he said, "We won something very special: Euro cup (2016 European Championship). We have to have the steps under the ground because we won (in) 2016 and now we want to win the World Cup. It's possible, yes, it's possible. Everything is possible. But you have to be realistic as well. As I told you many, many times, my dream is to win something for (the) Portugal national team and I won both, two titles (Euro 2016 and 2018-19 Nations League), which is making me feel happy. I win (titles with) every club that I've played with, but World Cup, it's a dream. It's a dream."

But it is a World Cup title that all footballers desire above any other accolade, and Qatar 2022 will almost certainly be Ronaldo's last opportunity to lift the historic silverware as he will turn 36 in February.
