New Delhi: Chelsea boss Frank Lampard on Wednesday admitted it was "nerve-racking" towards the end as his side held on for a 3-2 win away at Crystal Palace.
That victory saw the 'Blues' move up to third in the table, boosting their chances of securing Champions League football next season.
"In the last five minutes maybe. But we should have had the game under much more control at that point. At 2-0 we should have carried on and controlled the game better and then at 3-2 we have a lot of chances in the second half to finish off with slight wrong decisions maybe on the final pass or the final shot," Lampard said, before adding, "Then it invites pressure and Kepa makes a great save and Kurt Zouma makes a great tackle. But, in those last moments it was nerve-racking for us."
When asked if Billy Gilmour would be now preferred over Jorginho, Lampard said, "It’s certainly not a case of being number one."
Lampard said, "I thought Jorginho when he came on was quality. We needed his experience and his ball retention. He made a lot of passes and calmed us down. ‘I think Billy did okay as well but I don’t think it was our midfield’s best performance today. That’s not just Billy, I think generally we can do better than that."
