Ahmedabad: The Blue Tigers were crushed 2-5 by North Korea in their second match of the 2019 intercontinental Cup at the TransStadia Arena in Ahmedabad on Saturday.
A brace from Jong II Gwan (8', 29'), and loan goals from Sim hyon Jin (16'), Ri Un Chol (63') and Ri Jin (90+2') helped DPR Korea to win convincingly. Lallianzuala Chhangte (51') and Sunil Chhetri (71') scored the consolation goals for the home side.
Indian coach Igor Stimac made nine changes to the team from the previous match as this was a must-win game for both the teams to make it to the final of the tournament.
With this loss, the Indian team now would find it tough to progress to the finals.
DPR Korea, which won the match 5-2, will next face Tajikistan on July 15 whereas india will be up against Syria on July 16.
