Paris: Michel Platini, the former president of European football association UEFA, was arrested and questioned by French police on Tuesday over the issue of awarding Qatar the hosting right of 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The detention and questioning of the former football star of France were first reported by a French investigative website.
The 63-year-old is currently serving a four-year ban from football after he was found guilty of corruption along with ex-FIFA president Sepp Blatter. The ban will expire in October this year.
