Kobe: David Villa scored in the final league match of his career and Lukas Podolski had a hat trick as Vissel Kobe defeated Jubilo Iwata 4-1 on Saturday in the last match of their 2019 Japanese J.League regular season campaign.
Villa, who was playing last regular season match before retiring at the end of the year, ran to embrace his wife and children in the stands after scoring from the penalty spot in the 75th minute to give Kobe a 2-1 lead.
Podolski scored in the 36th, 78th and 85th minutes while Adailton had the only goal for Jubilo Iwata in the 51st.
Villa will play for Kobe in the Emperor's Cup semifinal against the Shimizu S-Pulse on December 12th.
If Kobe win, the Spanish legend will appear one last time in the final on New Year's Day.
Vissel Kobe ended the league season in 8th place on 47 points while Jubilo Iwata (31) finished bottom and were relegated to J2.
