Genoa: Cristiano Ronaldo on Wednesday scored a breathtaking header as Juventus registered a 2-1 win over Sampdoria at the Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris stadium. With the win, Juventus have become the table toppers of Serie A. However, Juve have to be consistent to win the title this season as Inter Milan is just three points behind them with one less game than Old Lady.

Argentina's Paulo Dybala scored the first goal for Italian champions in 19th minute to put them ahead before Gianluca Caprari levelled the score with his goal in 35th minute.

However, a remarkable and gravity-defying header from Portugal striker Ronaldo in 45th minute proved decisive as Old Lady won the game 2-1.

“Ronaldo did something that you see in the NBA; he was up in the air for an hour and a half,” said the Sampdoria coach, Claudio Ranieri, before adding “There’s nothing you can say about it, you can only congratulate him and move on.”

“The whole team showed the right attitude,” Ronaldo told the official broadcaster. “It was a good goal and I am glad to help the team with another three points. I had problems with my knee for a month but that has gone now and I feel good physically.”

Meanwhile, the night was also special for Old Lady's goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon as the veteran star equalled Paolo Maldini’s record of 647 Serie A appearances.

Buffon also surpassed Juve legend Alessandro Del Piero's record for the most number of appearance for Juventus Serie A. Buffon has now played 479 games for Juve one more than Piero.
