Chhetri becomes India's most capped international player

Buriram: Sunil Chhetri, who is also popularly known as captain fantastic among Indian cricket fans, on Wednesday became the most capped Indian footballer when he took the field in his side's opening King’s Cup tie against Curacao at the Chang Arena in Buriram, Thailand.


Chhetri, who made his 108 appearances for the Blue Tigers, scored the lone goal for his team in 31 minutes as India lost to higher ranked Curacao 3-1.

Before the start of Wednesday's match, Chhetri was tied with legendary footballer Bhaichung Bhutia with 107 matches each.
