Abu Dhabi: Tight bowling by Kolkata Knight Riders bowlers restricted Sunrisers Hyderabad to 142 runs for 4 in 20 overs. The target for Kolkata Knight Riders is 143 in the eighth match of Indian Premier League 2020 here at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium on Saturday. This is the smallest target of IPL 2020.
Winning the toss, SRH captain David Warner opted to bat, but they didn't get a good start as his opening partner Jonny Bairstow was castled by Pat Cummins in the fourth over for five runs. Bairstow, who slammed a hundred in IPL 2019, looked patchy as he consumed 10 balls scoring half of the runs.
Captain Warner was looking fluent at a time but was caught and bowled by Varun Chakravarthy in the first delivery of the 10th over. He scored 36 at the expense of 30 balls. Warner laced his innings with two fours and a six.
When SRH were two down for 59, Manish Pandey and Wriddihman Saha took the responsibility to repair the damage. They scored 62 runs from the third wicket stand. Pandey played a gutsy 38-ball 51-run knock with the help of three fours and two sixes.
The partnership was broken by Andre Russell as the KKR all-rounder caught Pandey off his own bowling in the fourth delivery of the 17th over. It was Russell's second wicket in IPL 2020.
Wriddhiman Saha playing the anchor's role scored 30 off 31 balls. He laced his innings with a four and a six. He was run out by a combined effort of Pat Cummins and Dinesh Karthik.
Captain Karthik used seven bowlers. Only Sunil Narine, Cummins and Chakravarthy could finish their quota four overs. Cummins was the pick of KKR bowlers. He conceded only 19 runs taking the wicket of Bairstow.
