IPL 2020: de Kock, Pollard help MI set 209 runs target for SRH

Sharjah: Riding on Quinton de Kock's 67 and late blitzkriegs by Kieron Pollard and Krunal Pandya (20 off 4 balls), Mumbai Indians set 209 runs target for Sunrisers Hyderabad here at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

Batting first Mumbai Indians didn't get off to a good start as they lost their skipper Rohit Sharma for 6 in the very first over. Sandeep Sharma, who is playing his second match in the IPL 2020, got him caught by wicket-keeper Jonny Bairstow.

After Rohit's departure, opener Quinton de Kock and Suryakumar Yadav forged a 42-run partnership off 31 balls. However, Siddarth Kaul soon gave SRH the breakthrough they were looking for sending Suryakumar back to the hut on his personal score 27.

Fall of two wickets in the powerplay didn't deter de Kock playing his natural attacking game. He with Ishan Kishan (31 off 23) by his side added 78-run for the fourth wicket.

de Kock and Kishan have especially been severe on Kane Williamson, scoring 17 runs from his second over. The duo followed it up with another 15-run off Kaul.

In the first delivery of the 14th over, Rashid Khan helped SRH get rid of de Kock taking a return catch off his own bowling. de Kock scored 67 off 39 balls.

Ishan Kishan too was removed in a span of an over by Sandeep Sharma.

But late blitzkriegs from Hardik Pandya (28 off 19) and Kieron Pollard (25 off 13) helped MI post 208 for 5 at the end of 20 overs. The duo added 41 runs for the sixth wicket stand. Kaul was the most expensive bowler as he conceded 64 runs from his four overs taking two wickets.

Earlier, Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first.
