Mohali: It seems controversies don't want to die down in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019. After umpire failed to spot a no-ball during Thursday's RCB vs MI match, the ninth match of the 12th edition of IPL between MI and KXIP on Saturday was marred by another umpiring howler that raised question on the standard of umpiring in IPL.

After winning the toss KXIP captain Ravichandran Ashwin invited MI to bat first another.
In the very first over of the match, on-field umpire Chris Gaffaney made bowl countingmistake which sparked another controversy during Ashwin's first over.
Ashwin began the proceeding of the match with his off-spin, and just when everybody thought the first over was over, the KXIP captain went back to his bowling mark and bowled the seventh ball of his ball, which was hit for a boundary by MI opener Quinton de Kock.
This is the second instance in IPL 2019 when an umpiring howler has been spotted. Earlier, RCB captain lashed out umpire S. Ravi for failing to notice a no-ball bowled by Lasith Malinga in the penultimate delivery of the last over of the match which the former lost by six runs against MI.
Replays showed that the bowler Lasith Malinga had overstepped but umpire S Ravi failed to notice that.
Later, BCCI said the absence of required technology was the reason behind the mistake.

Earlier, Kohli came down heavily on umpiring standards.
"We are playing at the IPL level. We are not playing club cricket. That is just a ridiculous call -- last ball. The umpires should have their eyes open. It was a no-ball by an inch. It's a completely different game altogether. If it is a game of margins, I don't know what is happening. They should have been more sharp and careful out there," Kohli had said without mincing words.
