Hyderabad: The playoff and grand finale of ongoing season of Indian Premier League (IPL 2019) can be shifted to Hyderabad if the impasse with regards to three closed stands at the Chepauk is not over.
Since 2012, the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) has failed in procuring fit certificate for three stands of the stadium namely I, J and K from the local municipal corporation.
“We will have discussions with TNCA as we don’t want to deprive CSK their right of playing at home. But three empty stands is an issue. Hyderabad and Bangalore are the two stand by venues for two playoffs, Eliminator and final,” a senior BCCI official said on Monday.
As per a report, the Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrator (CoA) has also asked the committee of Players’ Association to accelerate the process.
“The Players’ Association is expected to take shape in the next two weeks. The four-member committee has been told to expedite the process,” the official further said.
It has also been learnt that Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has chosen to invite fresh applicants for title sponsorship of domestic tournaments and international matches in India.
“It will be a fresh process but PayTm can also bid but just like new bidders.”
