Chennai:Defending champions Chennai Super Kings got off to a flying start to their IPL 2019 campaign as they defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by seven wickets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday.
In the season opener of 12th edition between CSK and RCB, plenty of new records have been notched.

So, here we will have a look at those records.
IPL's lowest total
As CSK bowled out RCB for 70 the latter now has the dubious distinction of being the only side to register two totals under 100 in the opening game of any IPL edition.
RCB's 70 against CSK is the lowest in IPL history. Their previous lowest was 82 at Bangalore against KKR. The third lowest team total-112- is held by CSK.
Suresh Raina achieves a new feat
In the very first match of IPL, CSK talisman Suresh Raina became the first batsman to reach 5000 runs landmark in IPL history. The southpaw was required 15 runs to achieve the feat. Raina reached the mark during his 19 runs innings.
CSK's dominance over RCB continues
Meanwhile, CSK won their record 7 matches against RCB in 8 meetings. Indeed an enviable record.

It is hard to digest that tonight's match is the only second IPL game to be played in the cricket-crazy city of Chennai in the last four years!

2018 IPL champions CSK won a record 13 matches since 2013 out of their 14 appearances at MA Chidambaram Stadium.
